Verfar S.r.l. 

Verfar S.r.l. is a Romanian agricultural company based near Fundulea, about 30 kilometers east of Bucharest. Since 2014 it steadily grows in size each year due to purchasing of new farmland in the region. Currently we grow the crops corn, sunflower and wheat in rotation.

Since the beginning, we have the “No-Till farming” method in mind. A unique John Deere 1760 planter was bought in the USA to be able to directly seed into last years crop residue, without ploughing the land.

No-Till farming will result in better moisture holding capacity of the soil and slowly builds the organic matter, improving the fertility of the soil. As a side effect this will also sequester CO2 into the soil instead of emitting CO2 due to tillage, also known as carbon farming. We believe this will provide us stronger yields for the future and better resilience to climate changing effects.

Our goal is to practice 100% No-Till farming on all our fields by 2025. And along the way we will try and add more and more cover crops as well so that in 2030 we can state that we farm according to the “Conservation Agriculture” principles.
